About The Krakens

The Kirkpatrick Farms Krakens is a community summer swim team competing in the Old Dominion Swim League (ODSL). Each summer a team of approximately 100 swimmers between the ages of 5 to 18 come together to become better swimmers, compete, and have tons of fun!

Purpose:

The primary objective of the Krakens is to promote the joy of swimming and instill values of sportsmanship in a safe and supportive team environment. The Krakens will provide an environment where all eligible swimmers can learn and improve their swimming skills, become the best swimmers they can, and be recognized for their accomplishments. The Krakens environment will also reinforce the importance of good sportsmanship, teamwork, hard work and build character in all of its swimmers.

Additionally, the Krakens will encourage social interaction and recreational enjoyment of the pool facilities. This extends to not only participating swimmers, but also to family members, friends, and community members at large. The Krakens will also enhance the overall image of the community and project the standards of competitive excellence and personal conduct.

The Krakens swim team is intended to meet the needs of all participating swimmers and to encourage and reward personal improvement as well as competitive excellence. It is the goal of the Krakens to emphasize personal improvement in such a manner as to encourage swimmers to participate and progress in all swimming strokes, not just those in which they excel.
