Mini Krakens
Program Overview
The Mini Krakens Swim Team Prep Program is designed to help prepare beginning swimmers for swim team. Our Mini Krakens will not compete in regular meets unless the Coach deems they are ready. They will be invited to all social events and participate in all regular team activities.
Requirements:
The Mini Krakens Minis Swim Team Prep Program is designed for children aged 3 and potty trained through age 6/7. Children should be comfortable in the water without floats and be able to go underwater comfortably. Being able to float is preferred but not required.
This program differs from swim lessons in that it does not teach the fundamentals of swimming to kids who have not been through lessons, but rather it is led by the Krakens Swim Team coaching staff and is specifically designed to prepare your child for the full swim team experience.
Time Commitment:
Mini swimmers do not participate in swim meets unless the Coach feels they are ready.
Equipment/Uniform Requirements:
Swimmers must bring a kickboard, goggles, a tight-fitting suit, and a swim cap for swimmers with long hair. Mini swimmers do not need fins or a team suit, although you are welcome to purchase a team suit for use during practice and so your child feels more like a part of the team.
Team Size:
To maintain the safety of our swimmers, the Minis program will be limited to 15 swimmers.
Registration:
Registration for the Mini Krakens is $125. You have the option of purchasing a team swimsuit, but this is not required. Registration fees include a team shirt.
Volunteer Requirement:
There is no volunteer requirement for Mini Krakens families at this time.
Practices in 2026:
10 sessions between June 16 and July 16
June 16, 18, 23, 25, and 30
July 2, 7, 9, 14 and 16
Time: 10:15 am – 10:45 am
Program size is limited to 15 total swimmers. The program also requires a minimum number of registrants in order to run.
